Dear Distinguished Guests, Esteemed Colleagues, Ladies and Gentlemen,

On behalf of Taipei Veterans General Hospital, it is my great pleasure and honor to welcome you to the 2026 International Forum of Multimodality Treatment for Pancreatic Cancer (MTPC 2026). We are privileged to host this important international gathering and to welcome leading experts from around the world to Taipei.

Pancreatic cancer has long been recognized as one of the most formidable malignancies, carrying an extremely poor prognosis and presenting immense challenges to both patients and physicians. For many years, surgical resection represented the only potentially curative treatment. Unfortunately, despite remarkable advances in surgical techniques, the overall outcomes remained unsatisfactory because of the aggressive biological nature of this disease.

Fortunately, the landscape of pancreatic cancer treatment has changed dramatically over the past decade. The development of more effective systemic chemotherapy has significantly prolonged patient survival, while continuous innovations in radiation oncology have expanded therapeutic possibilities. In particular, the emergence of particle therapy, including carbon-ion radiotherapy, has opened a new frontier in the management of locally advanced pancreatic cancer and has further strengthened the role of multidisciplinary treatment strategies.

These remarkable advances underscore an important reality: no single specialty alone can overcome pancreatic cancer. Meaningful progress can only be achieved through close collaboration among surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and researchers from diverse disciplines.

It is therefore especially gratifying that this forum brings together internationally renowned experts in medical oncology, radiation oncology, and surgical oncology here at Taipei Veterans General Hospital. I am confident that through the exchange of scientific knowledge, innovative ideas, and valuable clinical experience, this meeting will inspire new collaborations and contribute significantly to advancing the treatment of pancreatic cancer worldwide.

I sincerely wish every participant a productive and rewarding meeting, an enjoyable stay in Taipei, and every success for MTPC 2026. May this forum serve as another milestone in our shared mission to improve the lives of patients with pancreatic cancer.
